In Chernivtsi, TRC attempts to abduct UOC bishop
Bishop Nikita managed to escape from TRC officers on the church grounds.
On February 11, 2026, in Chernivtsi, TCC officers attempted to abduct Bishop Nikita of Ivano-Frankivsk on his way to a church service, report sources in the eparchy.
The car with the hierarch was stopped by police officers with military commissars outside the city. The bishop was told that he was allegedly wanted and should go with them to the military commissariat. A TRC employee got into the car with the bishop, and two police cars escorted him in front and behind. The route to the recruitment center passed by the Holy Spirit Cathedral. After the first police car passed through the temple gates, the car with the bishop sharply turned onto the church grounds, after which the gates immediately closed. The hierarch entered the cathedral where a service was taking place.
The military commissars traveling in the police cars tried to make a scandal, shouting that their colleague had allegedly been abducted. However, they failed to ignite a conflict. The drafter who had been riding in the car with the bishop lingered in the cathedral for some time and then left.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that TRC mobilized Bishop Seraphim of Novovorontsovsk.
