Constantinople Church to begin combating sexual harassment
The Australian Archdiocese of the Constantinople Church has approved a Policy on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment.
On January 22, 2026, the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of Australia of the the Ecumenical Patriarchate adopted a decision on combating sexual harassment.
“It approved the Regulations for the prevention and addressing of sexual misconduct, on the basis of the corresponding General Regulation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate,” states the document.
What prompted the Synod members to make such a decision, and at what level the problem of harassment exists, is not specified in the Synod's decision.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Archbishop Elpidophoros, LGBT representatives have always existed, but “only now they are trying to achieve dignity and respect”.
