Greek Archdiocese of America creates Folk Dance and Cultural Ministry
The American Archdiocese of the Constantinople Patriarchate has created the Folk Dance and Culture Department to preserve Greek traditions.
The head of the Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the USA Archbishop Elpidophoros (Lambriniadis) announced the creation of the National Greek Folk Dance and Culture Ministry in America. This is reported by Orthodox Times.
The new department was approved by the Diocesan Synod of the Archdiocese in October 2025 and will be engaged in preserving and developing the traditions of Hellenic folk dance, music and singing.
They state that this ministry is also intended to become a tool for strengthening Orthodox faith through cultural heritage, uniting Orthodox youth in the USA based on Christian values.
"This new ministry represents a historic and inspiring next chapter for Greek folk dance and culture throughout our Archdiocese," Fr. Sampson Kasapakis, Hellenic Dance Festival Chair, stated in a social media post.
As reported by the UOJ, Archbishop Elpidophoros condemned slander against US bishops defending the UOC.
