Sumy Eparchy celebrates miraculous "Bread of Life" icon and 80th anniversary
Jubilee celebrations were held at the Transfiguration Cathedral with the participation of UOC hierarchs, the eparchy's clergy and laity of the Sumy Eparchy.
On December 13, 2025, in the Transfiguration Cathedral of the city of Sumy, solemn services were held on the occasion of the commemoration day of the Mala Chernechchina miraculous image of Christ the Savior "Bread of Life", as well as the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Sumy Eparchy of the UOC, as reported by the press service of the Sumy Eparchy.
The all-night Vigil on the eve of the feast and the Divine Liturgy on the day of the celebration were led by Metropolitan Yevlohiy of Sumy and Akhtyrka. His Eminence was concelebrated by Metropolitan Roman of Konotop and Hlukhiv, Archbishop Iona of Obukhiv, clergy from all deaneries of the Sumy Eparchy, as well as invited clergymen.
During the service, prayers were offered for peace in Ukrainian land, Ukrainian soldiers, displaced persons and those helping them, as well as for the entire Ukrainian people enduring severe trials.
After the Liturgy, a glorification was performed before the miraculous Mala Chernechchina image of Christ the Savior "Bread of Life" and the reliquary containing a relic of Saint Andrew the First-Called. "Eternal Memory" was also proclaimed for the departed archpastors of the Sumy Eparchy.
In his archpastoral word, Metropolitan Yevlohiy congratulated the hierarchs, clergy, and faithful on the feast dedicated to the revered Sumy shrine and the eparchy's anniversary. In memory of the joint prayer, the bishop presented the archpastors with painted icons, after which the participants of the celebrations were invited to a festive meal prepared by the cathedral community.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the UOC celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Primate's episcopal consecration.
