Patriarch of Serbia to participate in interfaith conference in Jordan
Patriarch Porfirije has arrived in Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II to take part in the interreligious forum “Aqaba Process,” dedicated to strengthening dialogue and peace.
On December 9, 2025, Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church arrived in Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II to participate in the international conference “Aqaba Process – Balkan Interreligious Dialogue.” The report was published on the official website of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The forum is being held in Bethany, on the River Jordan, at the site of the Lord’s Baptism, and marks the tenth anniversary of King Abdullah’s peace initiative. Organizers emphasize that the “Aqaba Process” serves as a platform for cooperation and the exchange of experience among political, military, and religious leaders from various countries.
Primate and hierarch participants from local Churches are expected, including Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, Patriarch John X of Antioch, and Archbishop Anastasios of Albania, as well as representatives of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim communities from the Middle East and the Balkans.
The theme of the gathering – “Bridges Between People: Enhancing Understanding for Peaceful Coexistence” – resonates with the preaching of Patriarch Porfirije, who consistently calls for dialogue and the building of peace.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to Patriarch Porfirije, all attacks of the modern world are directed against the Church because the truth of Christ is preserved within it.
