Mukachevo Eparchy cleric banned for violating priestly oath

Protopriest Vitaliy Chorba was banned from priesthood.

Metropolitan Feodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod, by his decree dated November 27, 2025, banned Archpriest Vitaliy Chorba of the UOC from serving. This was reported by the press service of the Mukachevo Eparchy.

As stated in the document, the cleric of the eparchy was banned from serving "for violating the priestly oath given before the Cross and the Gospel, for perjury, betrayal of the Holy Orthodox Church, and deviation into schism."

The cleric was the rector of the UOC community of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Pashkovtsi, Mukachevo district, Zakarpattia region. On the eparchy's website of the OCU, it is reported that the corresponding decision was made jointly with the members of the parish he headed, and on November 26, he "signed all the necessary documents".

Earlier, Archbishop Ioann of Izoum and Kupiansk banned Archpriest Vitaliy Berkin from serving.
