Two Christians killed during church service in Nigeria
Christian leaders in the region express concern over the rise in violence and call on the state to ensure the safety of believers.
On November 19, 2025, gunmen stormed a Christian church in the town of Eruku (Nigeria), opened fire on the worshippers, and killed two people, reports The Associated Press.
According to the police, the attack occurred in the evening during a service. One Christian was shot inside the church, and the second was found killed near the building. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Regional authorities relate the incident to the activity of armed groups that have been attacking Christian communities in central Nigeria in recent years. Clashes between local groups, which sometimes take on a religious character, frequently occur there.
Kwara State Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in a statement on Wednesday praised Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for the deployment of 900 additional troops there. According to him, the authorities intend to strengthen the protection of churches and support the families of the deceased.
