Catherine Whiteford shared details of the meeting between the delegation of Orthodox Churches and Congresswoman Paulina Luna.

The leader of the Republican youth wing in the USA, Catherine Whiteford, shared details of the meeting at the White House between the clergy of Orthodox Churches in the USA and Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, which took place on November 18, 2025.

Among the discussed topics, Catherine Whiteford pointed out the need for the release of clergy and journalists detained for their faith or for covering the abuses of the Ukrainian authorities.

She also emphasized that the clergy delegation of the Churches made the following proposals:

• Stop any U.S. funding that directly contributes to the persecution of religious groups.

• End the drafting of clergy to frontline combat roles.

• Provide immediate medical care to imprisoned clergy.

• Release clergy and journalists detained for their faith or for reporting on these abuses.

"These are basic American ideals we expect from any ally. We are not asking for an end to U.S. support for Ukraine — only that religious persecution must stop. We are deeply grateful for Rep. Luna’s strong leadership and commitment to defending religious freedom," wrote Whiteford.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in the USA, a delegation of Orthodox Churches discussed the UOC protection with a congressman.
