A member of parliament from Volyn, known for his active campaign against the UOC, met with Epifaniy Dumenko in Kyiv.

The head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, awarded Member of Parliament Ihor Huz, who had taken an active role in the eviction of the UOC community and the diocesan administration of the Volodymyr–Volynsky Eparchy from the Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr. According to the MP, during his meeting with Epifaniy he discussed the planned seizure of two more Orthodox monasteries in Volyn.

On November 6, 2025, Huz published a photo with Dumenko taken in Kyiv’s St. Michael’s Cathedral on his Facebook page, accompanied by comments on the content of their conversation.

According to him, one of the topics discussed was his recent address to the Verkhovna Rada, directed to the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), urging the early termination of lease agreements with the UOC. The matter concerns two key Volyn shrines – the Zymne Sviatohirsk Monastery and the Holy Dormition Nizkynychi Monastery.

“I consider it unacceptable that, in the midst of a full-scale war, these national treasures of the Ukrainian people remain under the control of the Moscow Patriarchate,” he declared.

The MP also shared that he had invited Dumenko to hold a “service” in the Dormition Cathedral of Volodymyr, previously seized from the UOC. Huz said that Dumenko accepted the invitation and that the date of the event would be announced soon.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Volodymyr, the UOC had been deprived of the buildings of both the cathedral and the diocesan administration.
