Trump: U.S. intends to protect Christians in Nigeria and around the world
According to the American leader, "Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria."
U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention to protect Christian populations worldwide and named Nigeria a “country of particular concern” in connection with mass killings of Christians.
According to the American leader, thousands and thousands of Christians are dying in Nigeria at the hands of radical Islamists. “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria and numerous other countries,” the president said.
Trump instructed Representative Riley Moore, together with Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to “immediately look into this matter” and report back to him.
The president warned that if the Nigerian government continues to allow the killings of Christians, Washington will immediately suspend all aid to the country. Trump also left open the possibility of military intervention to completely eliminate Islamic terrorists.
“And it’s not only Nigeria. It’s happening everywhere. We are ready, willing and able to save our great Christian populations around the world. That is not going to happen. The killing of Christians is not going to happen,” Trump emphasized.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the U.S. was prepared to begin military action against Nigeria over the killings of Christians.
