MP: Unfortunately, UOC nuns of Korets Convent wear not SBU shoulder straps
MP Solomiya Bobrovska called for the return of the Korets Monastery to Ukraine.
MP Solomiia Bobrovska in her statement about the Korets Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada accused the nuns of having "shoulder straps".
In her speech, the deputy from the "Holos" party stated that the Korets Holy Trinity Women's Monastery is the only one in Ukraine that "directly reports to the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church". Bobrovska also noted that "the nuns have shoulder straps far from the Security Service of Ukraine, unfortunately". However, the deputy did not provide any evidence for her words. The deputy called to "give the green light" to all cultural departments to "finally start the process and return the church to Ukraine".
Bobrovska also accused religious organizations occupying monuments of national significance of numerous violations in the use of land plots and buildings — including additions and extensions that were not registered by either the regional departments of culture or the Ministry of Culture. In her opinion, this constitutes grounds for terminating the lease agreements.
As reported by the UOJ, in October 2025, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) discovered signs of affiliation of the monastery with the ROC and ordered the cessation of its activities.
