Chernivtsi Eparchy delivers 27 tons of humanitarian aid to Donbas

On October 18, 2025, a large-scale humanitarian aid shipment from Bukovyna arrived in the Donbas. Volunteers from the Chernivtsi-Bukovynian Eparchy of the UOC delivered 27 tons of food, household goods, and necessary equipment for a frontline monastery.

The majority of the aid – 22 tons – was directly delivered to the Sviatohirsk Lavra. The remaining cargo was distributed among other needy in tthe Donbas. Among the delivered items are over 10 tons of potatoes, fresh vegetables, canned goods, cookies, tea, and coffee. The cargo also includes generators, household chemicals, household supplies, greenhouse film, shoes, and feed for the inhabitants of the Lavra's aviary.

The initiative to collect aid received the blessing of Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna. Believers from all corners of Ukraine and abroad, including Ukrainians from Denmark and Canada, joined the action.

"We thank you for your concern for the fate of our much-suffering Sviatohirsk Lavra. We believe that for your love and sacrifice, the Lord will reward you a hundredfold," thanked all participants of the action, the organizer of the collection, Oksana (Maria) Tsiuha.

She emphasized the special contribution of the Bancheny Monastery, Kamianets-Podilskyi, and Ternopil eparchies of the UOC, thanks to which such a significant amount of aid was collected. Special words of gratitude were addressed to entrepreneurs and benefactors who took on the expenses of organizing the delivery of the cargo to the frontline area.

"Every donation became an important contribution to the common cause. The Sviatohirsk Lavra, as a frontline monastery, now survives only thanks to humanitarian cargoes. We invite everyone who can join: do not stay aside!" Oksana Tsiuha appealed to all those who care.

Bukovynian volunteers have already started a new collection of aid for the Sviatohirsk Lavra, planning another trip in the near future.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that on October 18, humanitarian aid from the Volyn Eparchy of the UOC was delivered to the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
