Archbishop Simeon of of Sinai received the blessing of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and discussed the affairs of St. Catherine's Monastery.

On October 9, 2025, the newly elected Archbishop of Sinai, Pharan, and Raithu, Simeon, who also serves as the abbot of St. Catherine’s Monastery on Mount Sinai, paid an official visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, reports Orthodox Times.

The Archbishop was accompanied by Archimandrite Agathangelos Maragoudakis, a member of the Sinai Brotherhood. During the meeting, the new Abbot requested and received the blessing of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, whom he informed about current matters concerning the historic Monastery of Saint Catherine.

Patriarch Bartholom congratulated Archbishop Simeon on his worthy election and wished him a fruitful and grace-filled ministry in his new and demanding responsibilities, for the benefit of the ancient Monastery of Sinai.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ecumenical Patriarch expressed support for Archbishop Simeon and the Sinai Brotherhood, emphasizing the spiritual and historical significance of the Sinai Monastery.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Vatican and the Ecumenical Patriarchate announced the Pope's visit to Turkey.
