His Beatitude celebrates Liturgy at KDAiS on St. John the Theologian feast
During the Liturgy, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, deliverance from the enemy, and support for those who have lost their homes.
On October 9, 2025, the feast day of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the academic church of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary (KDAiS), dedicated to Saint John of Damascus. The Information and Education Department of the UOC reported the event.
Concelebrating with the Primate were Metropolitans Philaret of Lviv and Halych, Viktor of Khmelnytsky and Starokostiantyniv, Archbishops Viktor of Artsyz, Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Ambrose of Zghurivka, and Lavr of Irpin, as well as Bishop Philaret of Baryshivka and clergy from among the faculty and students of the Kyiv Theological Schools.
The student choirs sang during the service under the direction of Archimandrite Leonty (Tupkalo) and Hieromonk Joasaph (Myronov).
During the Divine Liturgy, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, deliverance from the enemy, support for those who have lost their homes, and God’s blessing upon all who help the needy. His Beatitude prayed for mercy upon the Ukrainian people, for wisdom for those in authority, courage for soldiers, the release of captives, and healing for the sick.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry ordained Oleksandr Kozar, a fourth-year student of the Kyiv Theological Seminary, to the diaconate. After the Liturgy, the clergy, led by the Primate, performed the rite of glorification, after which His Beatitude congratulated all those present on the feast.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that on the feast of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, His Beatitude called on the faithful to pray for growth in love and mercy.
