Trump on the end of Gaza war: “A Great Day for the Arab and Muslim World”
Israel and Hamas have entered peace negotiations.
On October 8, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the achievement of an agreement between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of a peace plan, which provides for the release of hostages and the partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.
“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly!” the U.S. president wrote on October 8 in his Truth Social post.
Trump said, “This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen."
"BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!” he concluded.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it “a great day for Israel” and said he would convene the government to approve the agreement. “With God’s help, we will bring them all home,” Netanyahu said, referring to the hostages. Hamas also confirmed the deal and thanked Trump for his efforts, calling on the president to ensure full Israeli compliance with the terms of the agreement.
According to Trump, the release of hostages could begin as early as Monday. Forty-eight hostages are being held in Gaza, of whom, according to Israeli estimates, twenty remain alive. In exchange, Israel will release 250 Palestinians sentenced to life imprisonment and 1,700 Palestinians detained in Gaza after October 7, 2023.
The agreement comes nearly two years after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which left 1,200 people dead. Over the two years of war, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed, and the enclave has been almost completely destroyed.
The first phase of the peace plan envisions a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the UN Commission had accused Israel of genocide in Gaza.
