Bulgarian MP Petar Volgin stated that Ukrainian clergy are being persecuted and imprisoned without any evidence.

During his speech in the European Parliament, Bulgarian deputy Petar Volgin (Party Europe of Sovereign Nations) spoke about the persecutions faced by the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, POGLED.INFO reports.

The MEP emphasized that “there are several key issues that the advocates of Ukraine’s quick accession to the European Union do not mention at all.”

The first of these, according to Volgin, is corruption, “which Ukrainians themselves call the biggest problem in the country after the war.”

“Secondly, nothing is said at all about the persecutions faced by the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Without any evidence they are accused of spying for Russia, persecuted, imprisoned, and convicted,” he said.

As the UOJ previously reported, the European Parliament was informed about militants beating priests in Chernivtsi.
