Mother of OCU “bishop” takes the Great Schema in a UOC monastery
In the comments, Kryzyna was asked whether his mother recognizes him as a hierarch.
“Bishop” of the OCU Hryhoriy Kryzyna announced on social media that his mother had taken the Great Schema in the UOC with the name Nina.
“I inform you: yes, my beloved mother, after the repose of my father, an iconographer, immediately took the Small Schema with the name Anastasia, and on August 24, 2025, she received the Great Schema with the name Nina (in honor of Equal-to-the-Apostles Nina of Georgia) – in the UOC MP,” wrote the ruling “bishop” of the Rivne-Volyn Eparchy of the OCU.
According to him, “the UOC MP is schismatic in relation to the ROC, but close to the OCU.”
Readers responded to Kryzyna’s post with mixed feelings. “A worthy step. I ask for the prayers of Schema-nun Nina for me, a sinner,” wrote “bishop” Varsonofiy Rudnyk of Uzhhorod (OCU).
“Then why not take the Great Schema in the OCU, where your son is a hierarch?” asked OCU “deacon” Oleksiy Moroz.
“I understand that you most likely could not influence your mother’s decision, but there is nothing here to rejoice in, much less boast about,” wrote “priest” Volodymyr Buhrak.
Slava Sheremet asked Kryzyna whether his mother recognizes him as a bishop, but received no answer.
As a reminder, on August 25, 2025, at the St. John the Theologian Convent in the village of Kopashnevo, Zakarpattia region, the rite of tonsure into the Great Schema was performed. The rite was led by Archimandrite Isaakii. During the tonsure, nun Anastasia received the new name Schema-nun Nina.
