During a visit to Kyiv, the representative of the Phanar and the head of the OCU discussed the state of Orthodoxy in Ukraine and neighboring countries.

On August 23, 2025, the head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, received at his residence the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Lithuania, Hieromonk Justin (Kiviloo), along with the chancellor of the Lithuanian Exarchate, Archpriest Vitaly Mockus. This was reported by the OCU press service.

It was noted that the guests had come to Kyiv to take part in the Independence Day celebrations. After the service in St. Michael’s Cathedral, Epifaniy Dumenko held a meeting with the Phanar’s representatives, where they discussed “inter-Orthodox relations” and the situation of the Church in Lithuania and Ukraine.

In discussing the state of Orthodoxy in Ukraine, the participants accused the Moscow Patriarchate of maintaining an “anti-Christian stance, a destructive role, and support for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged commemorative gifts, after which the head of the OCU showed his guests the residence and invited them to dinner.

It should be recalled that earlier, the head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, met with Adventist leader Roman Prodaniuk to discuss spiritual education, secularization, and the challenges faced by displaced persons.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the leaders of the OCU and the Adventists discussed how to strengthen the spiritual values of Ukrainians.
