Sviatohirsk Lavra damaged by shelling
The UOC is calling for help to fund the replacement of broken windows ahead of the cold season.
On the night of August 15, 2025, the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra suffered damage as a result of shelling in Sviatohirsk, the Ternopil Eparchy of the UOC reported.
A day earlier, the Ternopil Eparchy, together with volunteers from Chernivtsi, had delivered humanitarian aid to the monastery.
“Last night there was a serious shelling of the city of Sviatohirsk, during which the Sviatohirsk Lavra was also damaged. Almost everywhere the glass in the windows was shattered, as well as the film that had been used in place of glass,” the statement said.
In connection with this, with the blessing of Metropolitan Sergiy of Ternopil, a fundraising campaign has been launched to purchase film and glass for the monastery.
“May the Lord bless all who donate to help the Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos! And may the Most Holy Theotokos comfort and shelter all of you under Her omophorion!” the eparchy wrote.

As the UOJ previously reported, the court has extended Metropolitan Arseniy’s detention for another two months.
