Supporters of Zelensky tried to disrupt the Amsterdam meeting in New York, but it still took place and addressed the issue of persecution of the UOC.

On August 11, 2025, the international lawyer of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Robert Amsterdam, stated that his meeting at the New York Young Republican Club (@NYYRC) was attempted to be shut down by pro-Zelensky interest groups. The lawyer wrote about this on his X account on (formerly Twitter).

According to the lawyer, the organizers were under "unprecedented pressure" with demands to cancel the event; however, despite threats and calls for a boycott, the meeting still took place. "It is becoming harder and harder to ignore the Zelensky administration’s persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church," Amsterdam emphasized.

He noted that such pressure actions on UOC supporters abroad are becoming more systematic and are often accompanied by information campaigns aimed at discrediting the participants. At the same time, according to him, more and more international politicians and public figures are ready to openly speak about religious persecution in Ukraine.

The New York Young Republican Club called it an honor to host the UOC lawyer and hold a frank discussion on the situation with the violation of believers' rights, emphasizing the importance of protecting freedom of religion worldwide.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the international lawyer of the UOC became a defender of the Armenian Church.
