St Job of Uholka's homeland commemorates 40th anniversary of saint's repose
During the celebrations at the UOC church in the village of Mala Uholka, the iconostasis was consecrated.
On July 28, 2025, on the 40th anniversary of the blessed repose of Venerable Job of Uholka, a solemn service was held in the village of Mala Uholka in Transcarpathia, where the saint served. This was reported by the press service of the Khust Eparchy.
The Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv. He was concelebrated by Archbishop Simeon of Uholka, Vicar of the Khust Eparchy, Bishop Benjamin of Skadovsk, Vicar of the Kherson Eparchy, as well as the clergy of Transcarpathia.
The celebrations began with the reading of the Akathist to Venerable Job of Uholka, after which the clergy performed the rite of consecration of the iconostasis in the local church.
During the liturgy, special prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, for the warrior-defenders, and for all those affected by Russian aggression.
After the service, the ruling hierarch addressed those present with words of instruction, reminding them of the feat of Saint Job of Uholka, his love for prayer, humility, and service to others.
The celebration concluded with the traditional many years.
St. Job of Uholka, an outstanding ascetic of the 20th century, was born in 1902 in the village of Iza in Transcarpathia. For his pious life, he received from God the gift of foresight and healing the sick through prayer. In 2008, the venerable was glorified as a saint.
As reported by the UOJ, the foundation of a new church of the Khust Eparchy of the UOC was laid in the village of Shayan.
