According to the lawyer, Zelensky’s attack on anti-corruption bodies was carried out under the same pretext used by the authorities to persecute the UOC.

According to UOC international legal counsel Robert Amsterdam, the same pretext used by Ukrainian authorities to weaken anti-corruption agencies is now being used to persecute the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Writing on his X (Twitter) account, Amsterdam stated that “only a country steeped in corruption and impunity could ban a 1000-year-old Church.”

He asserted that the justification applied "to gut anti-corruption oversight" has been repurposed for the campaign against the UOC.

“The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the last independent voice that President Zelensky doesn’t control,” Amsterdam emphasized.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the international lawyer has also noted that while the people protest, Zelensky continues his crackdown on the UOC.
