DESS launches investigation into possible Moscow ties of Korets Monastery

A DESS investigative group will examine the monastery’s possible connections with the Russian Orthodox Church.
As of July 28, 2025, the State Ethno-Religious Service of Ukraine (DESS) is launching an investigation into possible ties between the Korets Holy Trinity Stavropegial Convent (EDRPOU 13993497) and the Russian Orthodox Church, according to the official DESS website.
The press service assured that the group will act “strictly within the framework of current legislation and with respect for religious freedom.”
“At the same time, any signs of foreign influence or subordination to prohibited structures will be thoroughly investigated, and the results will be made public,” DESS stated.
As previously reported, DESS had earlier claimed to have found “connections” between the Kyiv Metropolia of the UOC and the ROC, demanding that they be severed by August 18, 2025.
