Armed Fulani herders stormed a church and opened fire on worshippers gathered in prayer.

On July 11, 2025, armed Islamists from among the Fulani herder tribe attacked Christians in the northwestern Nigerian state of Kaduna, killing five and injuring three. This was reported by Christian Daily.

The attack took place in the village of Kampani in Kajuru County during prayer at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), where around 40 people were present.

According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred around 3:30 p.m. Armed men burst in on the gathered worshippers and opened fire. Those wounded by gunfire were taken for treatment. Residents of the area say they live in constant fear and can no longer safely stay in their homes or work on their farms.

According to local Christian leaders, at least 110 people – mostly from Christian villages – have been abducted in Kajuru County in just the first six months of 2025. The attacks are accompanied by the destruction of homes, the burning of churches, and the looting of property. Responsibility for these actions is attributed to Islamist-leaning Fulani herder militias.

It is worth noting that Nigeria remains one of the most dangerous places on earth for Christians, according to the 2025 Open Doors list of countries where it is hardest to be a Christian. Of the 4,476 Christians killed for their faith worldwide in the reporting period, 3,100 (69 percent) were killed in Nigeria, according to the World Watch List data.

As previiously reported, Islamists killed six residents of a Christian village in Nigeria.
