A memorial service was held in the UOC cathedral for those who died from the Russian strike.

On July 12, 2025, Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi expressed his condolences to all those affected by the Russian strike on the city, reports the Tg-channel Orthobuk.

"Today, our city has become a victim of Russia's bloody aggression, resulting in the deaths of several people and injuries to many others. This mournful day will forever remain a black page in our memory and the history of our region. With deep pain in our hearts, we pray for the repose of the souls of the innocently killed and the speedy recovery of all the wounded and affected. May the Lord strengthen all those who suffer and wipe away every tear from the eyes of the bereaved. We implore God to end this terrible war initiated by Russia, to bring peace to our much-suffering land, and to save every human soul. We offer our sincere, heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. We share this terrible pain with you," said Metropolitan Meletiy.

We call for sincere prayer during services for the repose of the souls of the departed, the healing of the wounded, and the peace our hearts so long for.

The next day, a memorial service for those killed in the strike was held at the Holy Spirit Cathedral of the UOC in Chernivtsi.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Metropolitan of Chernivtsi and the cathedral community appealed to Patriarch Bartholomew.
