The Ecumenical Patriarch, in addition to receiving the award, plans meetings with Trump, government and business representatives.

From September 15 to 25, 2025, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will make an official visit to the USA. The occasion for the visit is the awarding of the Patriarch with the International Prize for his contribution to the development of a spiritual approach to environmental issues and protection of the environment. This was reported by the Orthodoxia News Agency.

The Templeton Foundation is to award the internationally prestigious Templeton Prize to His Holiness for "his pioneering efforts to bridge the scientific and spiritual understanding of man's relationship with the natural world, uniting people of different religious beliefs in a common action to protect creation".

The Patriarch's program also includes meetings with US President Donald Trump, American senators, diplomats, and representatives of youth and business communities.

As part of the visit to the USA, Patriarch Bartholomew will participate in an environmental event for the World Coastal Cleanup Day and speak at the Concordia Conference before representatives of business, politics, and charitable organizations. Receptions, dinners, and meetings with trustees of funds, including the Templeton Foundation, are also planned.

The award ceremony will take place on September 24 in New York and will be held in a closed format.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote about Patriarch Bartholomew's words that dialogue is a Christian's duty.
