The UN responded to the detention of the clergy and the increasing pressure on the Armenian Church.

On July 8, 2025, at the regular UN briefing, Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that the United Nations expects the situation around the Armenian Church to be resolved "within the framework of the proper legal procedure."

Stéphane Dujarric, commenting on the reported arrests of Armenian clergy and the increasing pressure on the Church, stated: "We do hope that the situation gets resolved within the framework of due process."

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, once again strongly criticized Catholicos Garegin II of All Armenians, promising to personally lead the fight against him. According to him, the spiritual center of the Armenian Church is allegedly under the control of an "anti-Christian, immoral, anti-national, anti-state group" and must be "liberated".

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Prime Minister of Armenia stated he would personally lead the "liberation" of the Armenian Church.
