The Supreme Court rejected the complaint of the religious community of the Dormition Cathedral.

People's Deputy Ihor Huz once again stated that he plans to expel believers from the Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr in Volyn by force – with the help of the "community and relevant structures". He said this on July 8, 2025, commenting on the decision of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, reports Insider Media.

According to the deputy, the court confirmed the previous decisions of the Economic and Appellate Courts, according to which the cathedral is state property. Thus, the UOC community is obliged to leave the temple.

According to Huz, if the believers do not leave their shrine, "then the community and relevant structures can help them here." Thus, the deputy actually allowed for the possibility of forceful intervention by local activists or security structures.

"The Dormition Cathedral is just the beginning. We are working so that after 30 years of colonial delusion, a true, strong, Ukrainian Church is revived," Huz stated.

As reported by the UOJ, earlier Ihor Huz threatened that once the “final point” is put on the issue of the Dormition Cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) – even if it requires forcibly removing the faithful from their sacred site – he will turn his attention to the Dormition monasteries in the villages of Zymne and Nyzkynychi in Volyn.
