The Serbian Primate wrote that the UOC is “effectively being persecuted by the authorities.”

Serbian Patriarch Porfirije sent Metropolitan Onuphry an emotional congratulatory message on his Name Day, in which he especially emphasized the difficult situation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which, as he noted, is “effectively being persecuted by the authorities.”

Quoting the psalmist David, “You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again” (Psalm 70:20), Patriarch Porfirije expressed his deep concern for the situation of Metropolitan Onuphry and the entire UOC.

At the same time, he declared his unwavering faith “in the triumph of love over hatred, of life over death.”

“We witness the patience of the saints (Revelation 14:12) in Ukraine and at the same time admire your steadfast testimony of the Gospel of peace and truth during these times of severe trials, persecution, and injustices that have befallen the Holy Church entrusted to you,” wrote the Primate of the Serbian Church.

Patriarch Porfirije concluded his message with a wish for Metropolitan Onuphry: “May the Lord, Who has called you to the great and weighty ministry of the episcopacy, grant you spiritual and bodily strength, enlighten your mind, and establish you in the love, wisdom, and faith with which you have thus far guided the flock entrusted to you.”

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Zelensky had revoked His Beatitude Onuphry’s citizenship.
