Hundreds of faithful in Nafplio, Greece, honor St. Luke of Crimea
Pilgrims came to venerate a relic of St. Luke, kept in the chapel and revered as a source of divine grace.
On June 11, 2025, celebrations were held in the Greek city of Nafplio in honor of St. Luke the Surgeon, Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, Vima Orthodoxias reports.
The archpastoral Vespers were officiated by Metropolitan Nektarios of Argolis, who reminded the faithful of the saint’s steadfastness and fortitude during the religious persecutions under the atheist Soviet regime, as well as his unwavering faith.
The main shrine for the pilgrims was a relic of the saint, permanently kept in the chapel. Following the service, a religious procession with the icon and relics was held through the streets of the city, accompanied by hymns and prayers.
The celebration concluded with an all-night vigil. The faithful prayed for healing and divine assistance. A museum dedicated to the saint also operates at the chapel, displaying his personal belongings, medical instruments, and archival materials.
