Larina stated she is not mentally impaired and called ROCOR the "hierarchy that has lost its way."

Former ROCOR nun Varvara Larina announced on her Facebook page that she has become a “ryassofor nun in the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.”

She claimed that the decree by ROCOR’s First Hierarch, Metropolitan Nicholas, depriving her of monastic status was a response to her criticism of the Russian Orthodox Church for its support of the war.

Larina stated that she does not accept the ban on wearing monastic clothing or using the name given to her at tonsure.

“What I wear or do not wear is dictated by common sense as it is in the case of any adult living in the free world. I don’t consult a bishop across the ocean about it, because I am not mentally impaired,” she said, calling Metropolitan Nicholas’ decree “uncanonical and shameful” and referring to ROCOR as the "hierarchy that has lost its way."

Larina also thanked those who send her money for the videos posted on her website.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the ROCOR Synod stripped Larina of her monastic status due to her cooperation with the OCU.
