Court sets new eviction date for UOC community from Cathedral in Volodymyr

The Volodymyr-Volynskyi Eparchy has been given one month to vacate its cathedral.
On April 29, 2025, a hearing was held at the Commercial Court of Volyn Region to consider the petition of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). The eparchy requested an extension of the deadline for vacating the premises of the Dormition Cathedral. According to the anti-church regional outlet Bug, the court partially granted the petition.
The UOC eparchy had asked for a six-month extension to transfer the complex of buildings of the Dormition Cathedral to the state.
The eparchy’s lawyers explained that additional time was needed to remove property from the cathedral, the diocesan administration offices, and the theological school – facilities that had been expropriated by the state.
The court ruled to postpone the eviction for one month. The community must vacate the cathedral complex by May 29.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the court earlier refused to reconsider its decision to evict the UOC from the cathedral in Volodymyr.
