UOC holds a memorial service for victims of Russian attack on April 24
The residents of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions were particularly affected by the nighttime Russian shelling.
On April 24, 2025, a memorial liturgy for all those who perished as a result of the Russian massive attack on Ukraine was held at the Intercession Monastery of the UOC in Holosiiv. According to the press service of the KDAiS, the service was performed by the teachers and students of the Kyiv spiritual schools in holy orders.
By the blessing of the rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, the service was held at the academic Church of St. John of Damascus.
The memorial liturgy for the deceased was led by the senior assistant to the rector for educational work, Archimandrite Volodymyr (Tsipinyo), concelebrated by the KDA teachers and students.
On the night of April 24, 2025, Russian troops carried out a combined strike on Ukraine with missiles of various types from air, ground, and naval bases, as well as strike drones of the Shahed type. In Kyiv, it was officially confirmed that 10 people died, and more than 90 were injured, including children. The night attack also affected Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
“The Kyiv theological schools express their condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased! May the Most Merciful Lord grant rest to the souls of the innocently killed in the villages of the righteous,” the message states.
As reported by the UOJ, the authorities of Kyiv declared April 25 a day of mourning in the capital.
