Patriarchs Porfirije and Kirill discuss pan-Orthodox unity in Moscow
Patriarch Kirill emphasized the special nature of the relationship between the Serbian and Russian Orthodox Churches.
On April 22, 2025, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije met in Moscow with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, according to the press service of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Patriarch Kirill wished the Serbian Primate God’s help in his ministry for the benefit of the Serbian Church, the Serbian people, and all of Orthodoxy.
“I am glad that we are together now, here in Moscow, rejoicing in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the resurrection of all humanity and of each one of us – if we have faith, humility, and hope in God. Temptations and challenges will always arise, but the Resurrection of Christ is a true and unchanging fact, now and forever, and unto ages of ages,” said the Serbian Patriarch in his response.
Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that the strong relationship between the Russian and Serbian Churches is a positive example for all of Orthodoxy. “Thank you for your love. May God grant you good health and help you and your fellow laborers – bishops, priests, and the entire Russian Orthodox people. Christ is Risen!” he said, addressing Patriarch Kirill.
It was reported that the meeting included a broad discussion on topics related to pan-Orthodox unity and inter-Church relations, as well as other matters of mutual interest.
