His Beatitude Onuphry officiates Easter service at the Lavra

During the Divine Liturgy, the Holy Fire from the Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem arrived at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

In the night of April 20, 2025, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry presided over the Easter service in the Church of Venerable Agapitus of the Caves at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the UOC's press service reports.

Concelebrating with the Primate were Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary (Chancellor of the UOC), Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, Bishop Lavr of Irpin, Bishop Mark of Borodianka, guest clergy, and the monastic clergy of the Lavra.

The liturgical hymns were performed by a mixed metropolitan choir and the choir of students from the Kyiv Theological Schools.

At the conclusion of the Paschal Matins, the traditional Catechetical Homily on Holy Pascha by St John Chrysostom was read aloud.

His Beatitude greeted the faithful with the Resurrection of Christ and distributed Easter gifts to the congregation.

During the Liturgy, the Holy Fire arrived at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra from the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem. The Primate received the sacred flame at the threshold of the church and lit a lamp from it. The Holy Light was then shared among the faithful present.

At the end of the Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry blessed the Paschal artos. He then sprinkled holy water on the faithful and their Easter baskets.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that His Beatitude Onuphry had addressed the faithful with a Paschal message.
