In Verkhni Stanivtsi, police officers question UOC believers
In Bukovyna, Orthodox believers were asked to give testimony about the night of the attempted seizure of their church by militants and OCU representatives.
On April 11, 2025, in the village of Verkhni Stanivtsi in Bukovyna, police officers set up checkpoints at all entrances to the settlement, where they checked documents. As reported by the Telegram channel “Dozor”, law enforcers spent the entire day summoning parishioners of the St. Nicholas Church of the UOC for questioning, asking about the events of April 8.
The believers were questioned about the night when OCU militants, led by OCU chaplain Roman Hryshchuk, attempted a violent assault on the shrine, beating women.
"The interrogations lasted quite a long time. However, according to reports from the scene, the police and investigators communicated calmly and respectfully. The law enforcement officers documented all the details of the OCU raiders' crime and their attack on the Christians," “Dozor” reports.
Witnesses also told reporters that the police went around the houses of UOC believers. They primarily visited the men, taking photographs of their homes. However, no one visited the small number of local OCU activists.
It is reported that there were about 60 police crews in the village that day.
Now, the security forces have left the territory of Verkhni Stanivtsi.
As reported by the UOJ, in Verkhni Stanivtsi, a group of bandits failed to seize the UOC church. They left behind a ransacked temple and burglary tools. The following day, the UOC community of Verkhni Stanivtsi appealed to the UN for protection.
