His Beatitude leads the Divine Liturgy at Annunciation Church in Kyiv

On April 7, 2025, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Annunciation Church in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. The event was reported by the UOC's Information and Education Department.

Concelebrating with the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were Metropolitan Antony of Boryspil and Brovary, Chancellor of the UOC; Archbishop Spyridon of Vyshneve; Bishop Lavr of Irpin; Bishop Mark of Borodianka, as well as clergy of the cathedral and invited priests.

After the reading of the Holy Gospel, His Beatitude delivered a sermon in which he reminded the faithful of the profound spiritual significance of the Annunciation – the beginning of our salvation, when, through the consent of the Virgin Mary, an ancient prophecy was fulfilled and the Word of God became flesh.

During the fervent litany, special petitions were offered for peace in Ukraine, for deliverance from the enemy, and for God’s comfort to those who have lost their homes and are in despair. Prayers were also offered for people of goodwill who are helping those in need.

In a special prayer now read in all UOC churches, the Primate asked for God’s mercy upon the Ukrainian people: that the Lord would grant wisdom to the authorities, courage to the soldiers, freedom to the captives, healing to the sick, and shelter to those left homeless.

During the Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry performed the ordination of a deacon.

The service concluded with the rite of glorification for the Feast of the Annunciation.
