In Panka, 600 parishioners of St. Demetrius Church reaffirm loyalty to UOC

On February 23, the religious community held a meeting.
595 parishioners of the UOC’s Church of St. Demetrius in the village of Panka, Bukovyna, firmly opposed attempts to take away their Orthodox sanctity. This was reported by the press service of the Chernivtsi Eparchy.
On February 23, at a general meeting of the religious community, parishioners reaffirmed their desire to remain in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
At the same time, as noted by the diocesan press service, media reports claimed that 570 residents of the village had joined the OCU.
"We congratulate them on this. After all, there is a Dormition Church of the OCU in Panka where the villagers can meet their religious needs. It would be strange if they neither attended their own church nor allowed others to do so," the statement reads.
As previously reported by the UOJ, in Serbo-Slobidka, the OCU, along with local authorities, seized a UOC church.
