Authorities intend to seal cathedral in Volodymyr and go to court
Local deputies and law enforcement officers have decided to jointly develop a strategy to seize the Assumption Cathedral in Volodymyr from the UOC.
Andriy Bokoch, a deputy of the Volyn Regional Council, during a meeting of the temporary control commission, called for the sealing of the premises of the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the UOC in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, according to the Facebook page of the Volyn Regional Council.
After sealing the premises, Bokoch intends to sue the Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy, as the eparchy has not complied with the decision of the Volyn Regional State Administration to vacate the occupied premises.
"I consider it advisable to seal the premises and only then go to court because it is a historical monument and state property," he said.
The next step in expelling the UOC from the cathedral is to invite law enforcement officers to the next meeting of the temporary control commission and jointly develop a strategy for returning the religious buildings to state ownership.
As reported by the UOJ, the Commercial Court did not accept the lawsuit of the Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to extend the lease of the Holy Assumption Cathedral and the adjacent premises where the eparchial administration is located.
