Believers and clergy of the Chernivtsi Eparchy handed over 8 tonnes of humanitarian aid to those affected by the blowing up of the dam of the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant.

On 29 December 2023, the Chernivtsi Eparchy of the UOC transferred to the Kherson region 8 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the victims of the Kakhovska HPP dam explosion, reports the eparchy’s press service on Facebook.

The victims of hostilities were brought mattresses, blankets, household chemicals, hygiene products, Christmas gifts for children, canned food and 1.5 tonnes of food.

It noted that the humanitarian aid was collected by the believers of the Chernivtsi Eparchy, benefactors from Ukraine and abroad.

"A local Kherson volunteer reported that old women are left alone, no one needs them! There is no water, no light, no gas. They are afraid to bring help to the area where he lives because it’s a firing zone. They survive on the aid they bring and local people of goodwill and volunteers who prepare food," the eparchy said.
