ROC rep says when they will give "more specific assessments" of UOC Council
Vladimir Legoyda said that the ROC will give "more specific assessments" of the UOC Council in Feofania after the completion of the "active combat phase".
The ROC will give "more specific assessments and take actions" regarding the UOC Council in Feofania after the "completion of the active combat phase", said Vladimir Legoyda, the Synodal Department for Church relations with Society and Media of the Moscow Patriarchate, on "Vera" (“Faith”) radio.
He noted that the official assessments that the ROC gave to the decisions of the Council were "quite restrained".
"And, of course, we proceed from the fact that in a situation where active combat actions are taking place, it is very difficult to make any final judgments. And perhaps we realise that only after this phase is over, more specific assessments will be given and actions will be taken," he said.
On May 27, 2022, the UOC Council took place in Feofania, during which the issues of church life arising from the Russian aggression were considered. As a result of the UOC Council, changes were made to the Church's Statute, and it declared its full independence.
As reported, Metropolitan Neophytos of the Church of Cyprus said that the decisions of the UOC Council in Feofania are canonical.
