OCU "Council" approves transition to new calendar

The "Local Council" of the OCU approved the transition to the New Julian calendar from 1 September 2023.
The "Local Council" of the OCU, held St. Sophia’s Cathedral of Kyiv on 27 July 2023, approved the transition to the new calendar, reports Andriy Smirnov, a religious scholar and a member of the DESS Expert Commission, on his Facebook page.
He reported that 161 people participated in the vote on the transition of the OCU to the new Julian calendar, with 156 in favour and 5 against.
"Metropolitan" Simeon Shostatsky of the OCU previously stated that "those who remain on the old calendar will celebrate slightly Moscow feasts."
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada "cancelled" Christmas on January 7.
