U.S. Ambassador discusses Ukrainian Church issue with Archbishop of Athens

On May 29, Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece met with U.S. Ambassador to Athens Geoffrey Pyatt.
At the center of their discussion was the creation of a Unified Local Church in Ukraine, Romfea.gr reports.
The U.S. Ambassador also stated that “the Orthodox Church can make a decisive contribution to strengthening peace and reconciliation among peoples.”
Archbishop Ieronymos, for his part, emphasized that in the church question of Ukraine, agreement and mutual understanding among all sides were necessary.
