European Union of today is based on exploitation, – Primate of the Greek Church
The Primate of the Greek Church voiced his doubts as for the future of the European Union. “Currently I am a Euro-skeptical. In the first line it has do with the fact the European Union has moved away from its initially established guidelines and our shared values. It has betrayed the ideals of its founders and is guided at present by new fundamentals.”
“There has been a retreat from solidarity and the three pillars Europe used to rest on – the Roman law, history and Christianity. I assume the European Union as it appears now is based on exploitation rather than solidarity,” said the Primate.
In his response the Bavarian Minister of Finance underscored, in particular, “We should take into consideration Christian values and try to preserve them. In our dialogue with Muslims we must show not only tolerance but also demonstrate our values and roots.”
“A lot of people call Christian values outdated. Yet I believe them to be inviting, especially in our modern age. Many refer to the Bible as old-fashioned. But I suppose it is an interesting creation which is very topical today. In my opinion, there is the Good News that forms the linchpin of Christianity – and it makes Christianity different from other religions,” explained the Minister.
