UOC launches a sign language news TV programme "Orthodox Bulletin"
Reportedly, the audience targeted will increase substantially due to the audience of people with hearing defects, who deeply appreciate such care.
The organization of sign language editions of "the Orthodox Bulletin" was initiated by the head of the Administrative apparatus of the Kyiv metropolis of the UOC and the TV host Archimandrite Viktor (Kotsaba).
Archimandrite Viktor shares with us details of the project implementation, "It all started back in May at the festival of Orthodox youth with hearing impairments "May day gatherings". I the process of our communication some of the participants made a specific request for the sign language. Of course, it took some time to start, but nevertheless, the first sign language programme is already on the air. This is a small contribution of the Church to people with physical limitations. The main news broadcast, which covers the events of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, should be accessible to people with hearing defects," he said.
The project was implemented with the participation of the staff of the "Orthodox Herald", "Glas" TV channel, which provided the necessary technical conditions, and with the support of the Kiev theological Academy represented by the teacher who does the sign-language interpretation.
Sign language television programmes are aired weekly on Wednesdays at 22:05 on "Glas" TC and "Orthodox Herald" channel on Youtube.
