Gathering for young altar servers held at UOC Neshcheriv Monastery near Kyiv
The UOC Synodal Youth Department organized training for altar servers from different eparchies.
From August 24 to 26, a gathering of young altar servers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held at a tent camp on the grounds of the Transfiguration Monastery in Neshcheriv, Kyiv region. The event was organized by the Synodal Youth Department, its head, Archbishop Jonah of Obukhiv, wrote on his Facebook page.
Around 40 young altar servers from different UOC eparchies took part in the gathering. The program included talks on worship, liturgical vestments and church vessels, as well as the finer points of serving at the altar. In addition to the educational program, participants enjoyed songs and conversations around the campfire, swimming, contests and games.
On August 26, the participants returned to their respective churches to resume their duties and prepare for the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.
