Izium Eparchy supports displaced persons from frontline areas
The head of the UOC eparchy's Social Department delivered wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and other essential items to Kupiansk and Vovchansk residents.
A meeting was held at the dormitory of the V. N. Karazin National University of Kharkiv between the head of the Social Department of the Izium Eparchy of the UOC and residents of frontline areas who had been forced to leave their homes, reports the eparchy's press service.
On August 12, 2026, aid was provided to residents of Kupiansk and Vovchansk, as well as the villages of Kovsharivka and Senkove. The IDPs received nine wheelchairs, eight walkers, ten sets of canes, and other essential household items.
The meeting went beyond material assistance. Archpriest Ilia Soroka spoke with the displaced people, held a spiritual discussion, and conveyed to them the blessing of the ruling bishop of the Izium Eparchy.
The eparchy noted that in difficult circumstances, people need not only practical ais but also spiritual support, attention, and simply an opportunity to talk.
The Izium Eparchy continues to hold such meetings for people affected by the war and forced to leave their homes.
“The Church will continue to remain alongside people, supporting them with the word of faith, prayer, and Christian love,” the Izium Eparchy's press service said.
As the UOJ reported, the Odesa Eparchy of the UOC has opened a hotline for those affected by shelling.
