In Kraków, residents spoke out against a Muslim prayer room that was operating in a residential building under the guise of a community center.
On July 6, 2026, residents of Kraków staged a protest against a Muslim prayer room that, according to the organizers of the demonstration, was operating in a residential building under the guise of a community center. This was reported by The European Conservative.
The protest was prompted by statements from right-wing activist Michał Kostrzński, who had spent several months investigating the activities of the center on Dworska Street. According to him, the premises, presented to residents as a cultural and community center, were in fact being used as a place for Muslim prayers.
Kostrzński claims that the center is connected to the Al-Fajr foundation, which supports the Muslim community in Kraków. The activist also drew attention to last year's appeals by the foundation for donations toward a third "prayer house," as two other similar premises in the city were already overcrowded.
Representatives of the National Movement party, part of the parliamentary Confederation, as well as participants of the Border Defense Movement, joined the protest. One of the co-organizers of the demonstration, Piotr Bartosz, stated that residents do not agree with the change to the "spatial and cultural order" of Kraków, emphasizing Poland's Christian tradition.
The city authorities of Kraków condemned the organizers of the demonstration, accusing them of attempting to stoke fear and conflict around the Islamic center. At the same time, as the publication notes, following complaints from residents, the apartment owner decided not to renew the lease agreement with the users of the premises.
