MP Ihor Huz called for the monks to be expelled from the monastery in Myltsi to “cleanse the spiritual space” of external influence.

The Volyn RMA has filed a lawsuit with the Commercial Court of the region, seeking the eviction of monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the St. Nicholas Monastery in the village of Myltsi, reports MP Ihor Huz on Facebook.

The officials claim the seizure of the premises due to the expiration of the lease. Ihor Huz stated that the continued presence of the religious community in the monastery is unlawful. The MP also accused the believers of a habit of "legal manipulation" and deliberately prolonging court proceedings.

The politician called for swift enforcement of the law in the interests of "national security" and the “cleansing of the spiritual space” from external influence. “This is a matter not only of law, but also of national security and the cleansing of Ukraine’s spiritual space from Moscow’s influence,” the deputy emphasized.

Previously, MP Huz has already appealed to the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture with a demand to take the situation under strict control. He expressed sharp dissatisfaction with the slowness of local officials, who over the course of five months had been unable to achieve the eviction of the brotherhood. In the deputy's view, state servants guilty of inaction should also be held accountable.

Previously, the UOC filed a complaint against Huz with law enforcement authorities for inciting religious hatred.
