Israeli authorities decided to transfer the security of the Al-Aqsa Mosque to religious Jews

Police began recruiting far-right activists to strengthen Israeli control over the Muslim shrine in Jerusalem.

The authorities of Israel have launched a plan to recruit religious Jews and far-right activists for service on the territory of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex. The police have begun cooperating with radical groups to attract new personnel from among supporters of Jewish presence on the Temple Mount. This is reported by Anadolu Ajansı.

Deputy commander of the police unit Daniel Lerach published calls to join the ranks of law enforcement in social networks and messengers. Recruitment messages appeared in Israeli settler groups on the West Bank and on far-right organization forums.

District commanders maintain regular contact with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who actively advocates for changing the status of the shrine. The Jerusalem administration called the authorities' actions a dangerous development and an attempt to destroy the Islamic identity of Jerusalem.

Palestinian representatives stated that Israel seeks to transfer actual control over the mosque to state security structures. Currently, the Islamic Waqf Department remains the only authorized body for overseeing the mosque according to existing international agreements.

As SPJ reported, Turkey condemned the "desecration" of Al-Aqsa Mosque by an Israeli minister.
